Scholarship

Every year, the Friends of Euclid Creek presents a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student planning to go into an environmental science career with an interest in watershed issues. An additional $1,000 scholarship may be given to a second deserving student. Application deadline is April 1, 2024. The Friends of Euclid Creek (FOEC), a grassroots, non-profit organization advocating for the health of the Euclid Creek watershed, is pleased to announce the availability of its 2024 annual $1,000 scholarship in environmental studies. This scholarship aids one deserving college or high school student in his/her pursuit of a degree or certificate in environmental scientific studies, or environmental field related to watershed health. There may be a second $1,000 scholarship awarded to another deserving student with Board of Director approval.

 

Applicant evaluation is based on background and potential to contribute to environmental sustainability. Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

 

·       Realizes the importance of and pursues S.T.E.M.

·       Is highly motivated by their chosen subject

·       Works well with others

·       Is a self-starter

·       Has or would volunteer in environmental activities even if no jobs were available

·       Has considered the career opportunities to contribute to environmental recovery

·       Has experience in the field being pursued (has already worked in the chosen field) 

 

Applicants may not have received a previous scholarship from the Friends of Euclid Creek.

 

  • Interested students must submit a one to two-page letter describing their career goals, past volunteer work related to        environmental activities, and significant achievements to date.

  • Applicants must also provide a minimum of one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or community member.

  • Applicants must be willing to complete an interview with FOEC members upon request. Permission to allow public release of photos and information is required of a winning candidate.

  • Include complete contact information: permanent address, phone number, and email address.

  • Applicant submissions must be post marked on or before April 1, 2024.
